Introduction to Volleyball Skills/p>

The 4 corners of the volleyball court provide enough challenge for ballers to play intelligently. Each player must provide the correct skill to match up with their opponents – upholding the true spirit competition. A combination of this skill will sum up to a successful play that can be appreciated by volleyball players and fans.

Serve

Serving is used to begin the play. It is done by swing an arm into the ball, delivering it over the net, and into the opponent’s court.

Passing

Another volleyball skill is passing. It is the act of sending the ball to a teammate so that he can either drive the ball and score a point or prepare and set the ball for a spiker to attack. Passing can be done in two methods namely, the dig and the bump.

Setting

Once the ball is passed to a player, he has a choice to set the ball. Setting is the act of moving the ball up high to prepare an attacker or spiker.

Setting involves touching the ball with finger pads and immediately fully extending the arms.

Spiking

As the ball is set, a spiker can come rushing in to drive the ball towards the opponent’s court. Spiking can be done in two basic shots, cross-court shot and baseline shot. Once the opponents has witnessed how your team can successfully deliver a hit, you can now employ other offensive options such as dinks and tips.

Blocking

A counter against spiking is blocking. When correctly done, a defending team can block, sending the ball back soon after the attack, or if not, slow down the driven ball for another defender to dig.

Blocking needs you to stand facing the net with extended arms above the head, anticipating to deflect the ball back when you jump.

Receiving the Serve

Reception comes immediately after an opposing team’s successful service. When correctly done, the team can proceed to setting, then spiking.

The use of the skills listed above does not follow the order. Random court circumstances will arise and will require a specific move. Volleyball training and practice is needed keep up.

What Does It Mean to Get An Education

The phrase “get an education” gets tossed around so much with little thought to what an education really is. Have you ever stopped to ask what that really means? “I want my kids to get an education!”, “I want to go back to school and get an education!” We hear it all the time. But what is this prize package? I have gone to school for a large portion of my life an I’m still not sure what the phrase means.

If we went off what the world considers an education I would say it could be summed up with a checklist. You need to pass a set of courses, with a wide degree of variation in scoring by the way, and then you are educated. At this point you will get a piece of paper and your are considered ready for a large amount of job opportunities. Once you have passed these courses it is highly unlikely anyone will check to see how well you did or if you remember any of it. How useful is this? Many have told me that this is more of a process to see who is willing to go that extra mile. You can assume that if someone got their degree they have spent large amounts of time studying and examining theories and practical application for many areas that should make them more profitable in the workplace. Having gone through the process I can tell you that some do and some don’t. I know several people that did the bare minimum and still got the same diploma that I did. On the other hand I also now several people that worked harder than me but did not seem like they would be a high quality employee. To put it bluntly they seemed like they may be eaten alive in any work environment. Education comes in many different degrees.Pun intended.

In the work environment I have seen many that have degrees from more prestigious Universities and others from less. Guess what? It doesn’t matter. Maybe in the hiring process it does but some are better at what they do regardless of their origins. In fact I would defend the idea that some that have not even had formal education could outperform some that have spent thousands of hours in the classroom. So who is better educated?

When I did my own analysis on education I had to start at the beginning. What is it that I would like my child going into kindergarten to know? The real answer is to work well with others. I want them to be able to be kind, be fair, and if necessary stand up for themselves as ethically as possible. Notice I didn’t say learn their A,B,C’s. That comes next.

Learning essential knowledge is the second part. A person must be able to problem solve, and work through life’s many challenges. This is where the multiplication and language skills come in. I think it is very important to learn math, reading, and science. The more a person knows about these things the more completely they can analyze a situation.

Some may think that I’m leaning toward not getting a formal education but I’m not. Every situation is different, and luckily every person is different as well. Some people will have to strive their whole life to gain the knowledge that others seemed to have acquired easily. Although this may seem unfair I still believe everyone has the same opportunity for success. To what area and extent for this success I would say it will be different for everyone.

So what is an education? It is the ability to gain and use all available knowledge and experience to make wise decision. Some answers will come from the heart and others from the head. Some questions will take much more effort from both. And some may end up with a coin toss or a game of rock, paper, scissors. Either way an education can come in all different forms. There is great value in a college experience but there is also great value in time playing on the playground. There is no one path to enlightenment and ultimately it is up to the adventurer to choose what they want to take away from their adventure. If you can use the knowledge and experiences you gain, to make your life better, your education was a success.

But how can you stay on task for an entire year when you’re so busy with kids, school, career and the occasional vacation. Well, here’s two exercises that will help make your new year’s resolutions a reality. It requires only a pair of resistance band, and takes less than 15-minutes to complete eack workout. The workouts are short, but they are highly effective against fat.

Workout guidelines:

Most gym goers, including me used to jump into an 8 week workout routine found on any website or fitness magazine. However, many such workouts are
either way too advanced for the average person or it simply does not burn enough calories to make any real changes to your body.

Beginners should never mirror a workout found on a fitness magazine unless it specifically states that the workout program is for beginners. Resistance bands works well for both beginners and advance individuals. The reason why is because unlike other workout devices, you can change the intensity of the movement by simply changing your hold on the bands.

Beginners should perform the exercises below one time through, once per week. For the advanced individuals, execute the exercise 3 times through 2-3 times per week.

Circuit training with resistance bands is a great way to combine strength training and cardio all at once when you’re short on time. Traditionally, the rest period between exercises in this workout is very little if any, often with rapid movement from exercise to exercise. Choose three exercise that you can do back to back with the bands like a lunge, shoulder press, and dead lift.Execute each exercise for 8-10 reps than move to the next exercise until you complete the entire set.

Superset training with resistance bands (no more than 2 resistance band exercises required)

Superset workouts involves doing back to back exercises with no rest between sets. Basically, this type of workout maximizes training intensity and allows you to work several different aspects of the muscle at the same time. For best results, train opposing muscle groups first. This approach to training allows one muscle group to recover while the opposing muscle group is working.

Over time, both of you will look forward this socialization process, while eliminating or reducing your dog’s aggression toward strangers.

The most common cause of aggression toward FAMILY MEMBERS is known as “resource guarding.” Your American Eskimo tries to defend his possessions from someone he perceives as a threat. This overly possessive behavior results from the issue of dominance.

Dogs are inherently pack animals. A pack is a very structured environment. Every dog in a pack is aware of the hierarchy or rank of every other dog in the pack. Your American Eskimo views the family environment the same as a dog pack environment.

You can change your dog’s dominant, aggressive behavior through frequent and consistent obedience training to establish your authority over your American Eskimo. Try conducting two 15-minute sessions each day to help your dog understand that you are in charge. Simply reward him with treats and praise for following your command (“sit”) and briefly punish him for misbehavior.

Here are some tips to help you choose the right size. Women: If you are inactive and are moderately to seriously overweight, take care to choose the proper weight. You body mass allows you the freedom to choose a slightly heavier kettlebell than someone who is slightly underwieght. Either the 4kg or the 8kg is the best choice. Try the smallest size first. If it feels that you are not feeling resistance while lifting, move to the 8kg.

If you occasionally work out and can lift about 16 pounds above your head without strain, begin with the 8kg. It may take you a few times to build up to all of the reps in the workout, but it is better to have a kettlebell that is just a bit too heavy than too light.

If you work out routinely, have strong shoulders and feel very stable while lifting 25 pounds above your head, use the 12kg. If you are a more experienced kettlebell user and your cardio is high, consider the 16kg. But be careful! This is more of an advanced weight for women and should not be chosen without forethought. After all, lifting 35 pounds above your head with one hand is hard if too heavy!

Men: If you are slim or underweight, do not workout and have trouble lifting and carrying a bucket of water less than 50 feet, start with the 8kg.

If you are overweight and do not work out, the 12kg kettlebell is a better fit, as you carry more mass and therefore need more resistance.

If you can lift about 30 pounds above your head without discomfort, consider the 16kg. Be sure that you have no shoulder or neck injuries, or else you run the risk of really hurting yourself.

The most important aspect of this guide is to consider your body when making your decision. Too much of anything will hurt, rather than help. The aim of kettlebell training is to achieve a desired level of strength: it is important to begin properly and with an appropriate amount of weight to balance out your overall maneuverability.
